Last October we thought we would sign her up for preschool 3 mornings a week She was 2.5 and I thought she could use a bit more stimulation then she received at home. Not to say we did not do anything with her at home ( we do lot's!!), but the social skills and structure she would get in a school environment would be more beneficial. It was the best decision as she has really developed and come a long long way. She also loved school and her friends so much. They learn all about the the weather, time, calendar, society ( police, firemen, doctors), different cultures holidays, sharing, respect, singing songs, games etc....Everyday she would come home talking about something she learned in school. Her vocabulary also developed at lightning speed! Darya was a bit delayed with her speech, nothing major, but it took her awhile to use more then 2-3 words together. Now she talks full sentences and uses more complex works like.."properly, actually". She doesn't always pronounce everything perfectly, but she has certainly advanced.
Anyways, yesterday was so cute, it was her preschool graduation and they all got little diploma's. I'll post the pics later once I get them off my camera.
Darya is completley potty trained now too, which is nice. Every morning I get up and find a little surprise in the potty that she left overnight. She gets herself up in the night now to go by herself. She says "Mommy, I left you a rocket ship in the potty", ha haha! Darya is a true girl and insists on picking out her own clothes. She just hates being dirty and if anything gets on her clothes, she's off to her closet to pick something new! Darya goes through little waves of enjoying cartoons and then not paying attention to them at all. For the last couple months she was not interested in Dora and her shows and was always playing with puzzles, but now she seems to have taken a keen interest in SpongeBob and Shrek :-) Darya is weighing in at 24 lbs which is still very small for her age. She is not registering on the growth chart yet, so she is in the 3% percentile for her age. We have had everything checked at the International Adoption clinic, even for rare blood parasites and she is 100% healthy. Even her iron and vitamin levels were A-OK. The doctors are not too worried, they say she is just small due to prematurity, lack of proper nutrition, genetics etc.. and since her development is 100% on track, then they are not worried. If her development was was delayed too then they would be worried, but she is a very clever little gal. Well that's it for now, hope everyone has a nice summer!
