Summertime Fun!

...we are back online! It has been over a month since we have posted anything on the blog and there is lots to talk about. We are having a blast with Darya here at home. She is adjusting to Canadian life just fine (although we haven't had her on ice skates yet :)....and I think we are adjusting fine as well.
Although she always had a smile on her face, back in Kazakhstan Darya wasn't a very vocal girl. Could of been the environment, could of been the stage she was at in her development, and so on. But now you can't stop her from the baby talk. All day long she "bbbuuubh's" her way through the day pointing at stuff and giving her baby talk colour commentary on what it is. She is also becoming very away of what we are saying and seems to understand quite a bit of what we say to her.
Darya also loves to eat which is great for her growth. Some of her favourite things to eat are bananas, pasta and home made spagetti sauce, english muffins, sweet potato, ham, broccoli (you gotta get them started early on it) cottage cheese, and yogurt. She is also getting into the mode where she wants to feed herself...it can get messy, but she loves it. So does Cleo - as she hovers around the high chair waiting for something to hit the floor....at least she is helping keep the floors clean.
We have been spending a lot of time with Darya trying to walk with her. Right now she will grab our fingers and walk all by herself up and down the hall way...she also has a little buggy that she can prop herself with and push it around like a cart...she really like that.
We have also been on the road with Darya. A couple of weeks ago Adoption Horizons hosted the annual family picnic in Toronto. It was neat to see families who we met at last year's picnic when we still thought we were going to Russia. We also met with some other families who also recently went to Kazakhstan with Adoption Horizons. It was a beautiful day. We also got a chance to show Darya around Toronto.

That last pic of Darya in front of the window is classic! You should submit that one to some photo contest :-) She's a doll!

Hello Shane and Kim,
Don't know if you remember but we met on the Kokshetau Airlines flight. Just found your blog and wanted to congratulate you on your successful journey to Darya! Best of luck to your family.
